Season Finale "SoBo 300" set for Saturday afternoon at South Boston Speedway

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. – The "SoBo 300" weekend is just around the corner and excitement is in the air. South Boston Speedway is a busy place this week getting the final details worked out for what fans can expect to be an action packed weekend.

The season finale at the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval will begin Friday morning with practice starting at 11:30 a.m. and qualifying time trials scheduled to start at 4 p.m.

Speedway officials have estimated that 50-plus NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Late model Stock Cars will attempt to make the field for the 300-lap shootout, that will get the green flag Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.

Among the Late Model Stock Car stars expected to battle for victory Saturday are 2005 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series National Champion Peyton Sellers of Danville, Va. and 1993 NASCAR Weekly Series National Champion Barry Beggarly of Pelham, N.C.

Other top names registered for the race include Richard Landreth of Pine Hall, N.C., Jamey Caudill of Four Oaks, N.C., Drew Herring of Benson, N.C., Deac McCaskill of Raleigh, N.C. and Frank Deiny, Jr. of Mechanicsville, Va.

Also expected to compete for the win are David Triplett, Jr. of Durham, N.C., Philip Morris of Ruckersville, Va., Jonathan Cash of Oxford, N.C., Owen Miller of Emporia, Va. and Brandon Butler of Petersburg, Va.

South Boston Speedway's 2004 Limited Sportsman Champion and 2005 runner up Jonathan Bailey of Keysville, Va. is making the move up to Late Model Stock for this weekend's season finale to do battle with some of the best short track drivers in the nation.

The "SoBo 300" will get cranked up on Friday, Nov. 11. Grandstand gates will open Friday at 11 a.m. and practice starts at 11:30 a.m. with qualifying time trials set to start at 4 p.m. Tickets for practice and qualifying will be $5, and children under 10 will be admitted free with a paid adult.

Grandstand gates will open on Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. followed by the first qualifying race at noon and the last chance race at 1:30 p.m.

Tickets for the "SoBo 300" are currently available at the speedway office. General admission tickets are priced at $10 in advance for adults. Tickets on the day of the race will sell for $15. Youth, ages 10-15, will be admitted for $10 and children, ages nine and under will be admitted free with a paid adult.
