South Boston Speedway's Pure Stock Division gains NASCAR sanctioning

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — When the 2005 season begins March 12 at South Boston Speedway, the Pure Stock Division will join the ranks of NASCAR-sanctioned racing divisions at the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval.

The Pure Stock Division competitors will compete within NASCAR's Charger Division. In addition, NASCAR will provide $2,000 in postseason prize money for the Pure Stock Division based on the season ending point standings at South Boston Speedway.

The track has, for many years, had NASCAR sanctioning for the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Late Model Stock Car Division and the Limited Sportsman Division. Now, the Pure Stock Division competitors can battle for NASCAR championships as well.

"We're excited to have the NASCAR sanctioning for the Pure Stock Division drivers," South Boston Speedway General Manager Cathy Rice said. "This is something that we've heard the competitors in the division say they would like to see happen here at South Boston Speedway."

The 2005 South Boston season will begin on Saturday, March 12. Prior to the season-opening event, competitors will have an opportunity to dial their rides in during open practice sessions slated for Thursday, March 3 and also on Saturday, March 5.
