'05 NASCAR Weekly Series national champion Peyton Sellers will be seen around SoBo in '07

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — There's no place like home. If you don't believe it, just ask Peyton Sellers of Danville, Va.

In 2005, Sellers reeled off 12 victories at South Boston Speedway on his way to claiming the track championship, the NASCAR Weekly Series Division I crown and the NASCAR Weekly Series national title.

In 2006, Sellers jumped on board with Richard Childress Racing and claimed the Rookie of the Year championship in the NASCAR Busch West Series. This year, Sellers is planning on running a full schedule in the NASCAR Busch East Series.

Even so, he hasn't forgotten where his roots are. And, because of that, Sellers will be seen around America's Hometown Track in 2007. Some of the time it may be helping his brother, H.C., and Late Model Stock Car competitor Jon Denning and sometimes it may be behind the wheel of a racecar.

"I will definitely be there with Jon and H.C. some on my off weeks," Sellers said. "And, occasionally, I may be there to race. I would think though that would be more toward the end of the season.

"South Boston Speedway is definitely home for me," Sellers added. "I get a cool sensation every time I walk in there. That place has been very good to me. Fortunately, I have had an opportunity to move on, but you never forget where you came from."

South Boston Speedway's 50th anniversary season will get underway on Saturday, March 24. Twenty-one events are on the schedule for the upcoming season at South Boston Speedway.

Race fans can purchase season tickets, good for all events in 2007, for $175. A season ticket pass for youth, ages 10-15, is available for the 2007 season at a cost of $99.
